Final Observatory

  1. Stationary vs. Moving organisms- 4 still Rotifers. All moving organisms besides that. Partivle movement aswell. Pseudopia moving. Arcella present (2 large). Pernema present (pg.51 "Freshwater Protozoa"). Planeria present (pg.114 "Freshwater Protozoa"). Frontonia present (pg. 147 "Freshwater Protozoa"). Condylostoma present (pg.144 "Freshwater Protozoa"). Strobilidium present (pg.160 "Freshwater Protozoa").
  2. Description of Motion- Arcella have circular movement. Strobilidium random fast movement. Flagelluem slow movement. Pernema have random movement but they seem to stay in the same area.
  3. Single cellular or Multicellular- Multicellular Pernema. Everything else single cellular.
  4. Chlorophyll green vs. non-green organisims- Brown to greenish-brown.
  5. Habitat preference- Few organisims remain in central location of microaquarium. Many have moved to sediment at the bottom.
  6. Number of Organisims- Many Arcella. Many Rotifers but only 4 are still. Substantial growth of all organisims.

Observatory 3

  1. Stationary vs. Moving organisms- No stationary organisms. All moving organisms. Pseudopia moving faster and have become larger. Rotifers have nearly tripled in size. Arcella present (2 huge). Rotifers present. Flagelluem present. Pernema present (pg.51 "Freshwater Protozoa").
  2. Description of motion- Arcella- circular movement. Rotifers- random movement. Fagelluem- not much movement but never settle for long (random movement). Pernema- random movement.
  3. Single cellular or Multicellular- Multicellular Pernema. Single celled Rotifers, Arcella, and Flagelluem.
  4. Chlorophyll green vs. non-green organisms- Mostly brown and greenish-brown. Most area are greenish-brown.
  5. Habitat preference- Everywhere but mostly in middle. Many chose the sides where the glue is. Some movement.
  6. Number of organisms- Many organisms altogether. Substantial growth for each.

2nd Observatory

Observatory:
  1. Stationary vs. Moving organisms- Few stationary organisms with many moving organisms. 90% moving organisms. Pseudopia moving at a faster rate. Nematode and Cilia moving more. Identification confirmed of stationary Planaria.
  2. Description of motion- Remain circular/random movement for Pseudopodia, however did move to different areas. Nematodes and Cilia had random, fast movement. Planeria was stationary with a constant whipping tail.
  3. Single celled vs. Multicellular organisms- Pseudopia growth. Still single celled? Nematodes and cilia single celled. Planaria is single celled.
  4. Chlorophy green vs. non-green organisms- Brown micro aquarium. Some greenish-brown areas and organisms. Non-green organisms as well as areas.
  5. Habitat preference- Habitat is still mostly in the middle but some have begun to dwell around the sides of the micro aquarium. Mostly around the glue. Some movement.
  6. Number of organisms- Many organisms all together. Substantial growth for each organism.

Creation of MicroAquarium (week 1)

Observatory based on creation:
1. Stationary vs. Moving organisms-Some stationary organisms and some moving organisms. Mostly moving organisms. Pseudopodia movement. Nematode and Cilia movement. Maybe some stationary Planaria (hard to differentiate organisms).
2. Description of motion-Circular/random movement for Pseudopodia. Nematodes and Cilia had a random movement. Planaria was stationary however, it did have a whipping motion.
3. Single celled vs. Multicellular organisms- Pseudopodia is very large but single celled. Nematodes and Cilia are single celled. Planaria is single celled as well.
4. Chlorophyll green vs. non-green organisms- Green to greenish-brown organisms. Non-green organisms also.
5. Habitat preference-Habitat is mostly in the middle. Some movement from top to bottom but reside in the middle mostly.
6. Number of organisms-Very few of each of the organisms. 2 to 3 Nematodes and Cilia. 1 to 2 Pseudopodia. 1 Planaria.
